Reykjavík Whales & Northern Lights

Reykjavík Classic Whale Watching & Northern Lights Cruise

This COMBO unites some of the most popular winter attractions in Iceland.

Duration: 5-7 hrs. in total

Available:

1-30 September at 13:00 and 22:00

1 October - 14 March at 13:00 and 21:00

15 March - 15 April at 13:00 and 22:00

You start the day with a 3-5 hr. whale watching tour at 13:00 with departure from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík. The most common species seen in Faxaflói bay in winter are the Minke whales, dolphins, porpoises and Humpback whales - although we sometimes also spot Orcas, Fin or even Sei whales. After exploring the wonderful seabirds and marine life of the bay, you return to the harbour in time to shop, have dinner or stroll the streets of Reykjavík.

The approx. 2 hr. magical evening cruise departs at 21:00 or 22:00, depending on the season (see calendar for availability), taking you into Faxaflói bay. Heading out into the open bay under the vast starry sky is a wonderful experience not to be missed. Our success rate is quite high as we carefully assess the weather and aurora forecasts at hand each and everyday to give you the best chance of spotting the Auroras.

Please note that if you select pickup for this combo, you will be collected at your hotel or bus stop nearest to your hotel for the Whale Watching and only returned after the Northern Lights Cruise.

For optimal viewing and your enjoyment the tours are weather dependent.

Note that if you select hotel pick-up or drop-off, you will only be collected at your preferred meeting point before the Whale Watching tour and returned only after the Northern Lights Cruise. Extra transfers can be arranged upon request.

The tours are subject to suitable sea conditions and therefore one or both could get cancelled on short notice. We will do our best to notify you in good time in this case, but please check our website for updates!

While Reykjavík offers the ideal conditions for aurora viewing and whale watching, they are both highly unpredictable. If no sightings are reported on your tour(s), you will be offered a complimentary return ticket, which is valid for two years.
